Cost

This training is intended for members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, active duty and civilian Coasties, and state employees involved in boating safety education and outreach. Participants are encouraged to bring their own kayak and gear, but these items will be provided at no cost to those who are not able to do so.

The registration fee of $125 is not charged until the applicant is accepted into the program. This fee is nonrefundable as we need firm commitments. Submissions are considered in the order they are received, and successful applicants will be billed shortly after acceptance.  Please submit your application as soon as possible.

Participants from outside the Auxiliary are responsible for their own travel, food and lodging expenses, but there is no additional program fee beyond the $125 registration and the requirement to become an ACA member ($40 annual fee). An ACA membership and membership number can be obtained here: https://americancanoe.org/join/renew/

Members of the Auxiliary will be offered one of 30 beds at no cost in the 10 park cottages. Auxiliarists will be given priority for these shared cottages, and they may be able to obtain funded travel orders through the Coast Guard Auxiliary Association. There are many short term rentals nearby on James Island for those not staying in a cottage, and it may be possible to rent a camping space in the park.
